BountyShift

Game testing

PC, console and mobile games. Sessions run long and cases need repeating, so a job takes more testers here than in any other type.

What you run

Gameplay flow

A chapter start to finish, down the intended path and off it. Going out of bounds, getting stuck and states you cannot come back from all live here.

Saving and loading

Autosave, manual save, quitting mid-save, opening a save from an older build in a newer one. Most data loss turns up here.

Multiplayer

Matchmaking time, dropped connections, rejoining, different regions. These need testers at the same time, which is why the slot counts are wide.

Performance

Frame-rate drops, load times, heat and battery. The measurement tool's output goes in with the proof.

Input devices

Gamepad bindings, keyboard and mouse, touch. What the game does when the device changes mid-session is its own case.

Store and content

In-game purchases, refunds, age gates, voice chat privacy settings.

What you need

Whatever platform the job names has to be on your profile. Console work needs the real machine; cloud gaming is not accepted, because part of what is being measured happens on the service's side.

  • PC work: the minimum GPU and CPU named on the job
  • Console work: a real PlayStation or Xbox; cloud services are not accepted
  • Mobile game work: a real phone in the segment the job names
  • A measurement layer for frame-rate cases — the agent has one
  • Being available at the stated hour for multiplayer sessions

Fee and time

Illustrative figures; the amount on the job is the binding one.

Typical ranges for game work. Sessions run longer than in other types.

Rules specific to this type

Game work puts unreleased content in front of you, and confidentiality is enforced more strictly here than anywhere else.

  • Screenshots and recordings go into the report and nowhere else
  • Nothing is shown on stream, on social media or in a group chat
  • A breach is grounds for permanent account closure
  • In multiplayer sessions the other testers' account names are confidential too

Tell us if you have a console

Few testers own the real hardware, so console slots often stay open.

What BountyShift is

BountyShift is a marketplace for software testing work. Companies send their new builds here to be tested, and the work is done entirely remotely — from home, on your own computer or phone. There are five kinds of job: website, mobile app, desktop software, embedded device and game testing. Every job's fee is known before you take it and is fixed; it does not change with how many faults you find, and a job where you find nothing is still paid. Payments run weekly, and no commission is taken from testers.
