BountyShift

Mobile testing

iOS and Android apps. A real device is required — emulators are not accepted, because most of what is being tested already works on one.

What you run

Install and update

Clean install, update over an older build, data migration. Installing the old version and updating over it is the case that gets skipped most.

Permissions

Camera, location, notifications, files. What the app does when a permission is refused, and whether it recovers when it is granted later.

Offline and sync

What happens to data written in airplane mode once the connection returns. Whether state survives being killed in the background.

In-app purchase

With sandbox accounts. Cancellation, refunds and double-tap cases are named on the job.

The device you need

Whatever model and version the job asks for has to be registered on your profile. Nothing is sent for a device you have not registered, so adding every device you own directly increases the work you see.

  • A real iPhone or Android phone; emulators and simulators are not accepted
  • The OS version the job names — the job gives the exact build
  • Screen recording permission enabled
  • TestFlight for iOS work, internal test track access for Android

Fee and time

Illustrative figures; the amount on the job is the binding one.

What BountyShift is

BountyShift is a marketplace for software testing work. Companies send their new builds here to be tested, and the work is done entirely remotely — from home, on your own computer or phone. There are five kinds of job: website, mobile app, desktop software, embedded device and game testing. Every job's fee is known before you take it and is fixed; it does not change with how many faults you find, and a job where you find nothing is still paid. Payments run weekly, and no commission is taken from testers.
