Client agreement

Parties and subject

This agreement is between BountyShift and the company having its software tested. It sets out how a job is opened, how it is assessed, and how its fee is paid.

What the service covers

BountyShift finds the testers, puts the job in the queue, keeps the run record and handles payment. The content of the test steps and the assessment of the result belong to the company.

What the company provides

The build to be tested, the environment it runs in, the steps to follow, and the criteria a piece of work must meet to be accepted. Delay caused by an incompletely specified job sits with the company.

Warranty of authority

You warrant that you hold the right to distribute the build you send and to have it tested. Software that breaches a third party's licence terms cannot be placed here.

No real personal data

A test build may not contain the personal data of real users. The test environment is built with sample data. All liability arising from a breach of this rule sits with the company.

No harmful components

The build sent may not contain malicious code, a covert data collector, or any component that would harm a tester's device. Where this is found the job is closed and the account suspended.

Slots and the fee

The company sets how many testers a job opens to and the fixed fee paid per job. The fee is held when the job enters the queue.

Review window

You review delivered work within the stated window. If no decision is made inside it, the work is treated as accepted and its fee passes to the tester's balance.

Rejection

If you reject a piece of work you write the reason. A rejection with no reason is not processed. If the tester disputes it, the process follows the rules on the disputes page.

Intellectual property

The right to use the evidence, reports and findings testers produce passes to the company. The rights in your software stay with you; they are not transferred to the platform.

Confidentiality

Every tester accepts the confidentiality undertaking before taking a job. Where it is breached we act on the account. The company keeps its right to pursue direct losses through the courts.

Tester identity

We do not share testers' identity details with the company. Where a breach is alleged, we give only what the legal process requires, and only to the competent authority.

Limits of liability

BountyShift does not guarantee that testing will find any particular fault. The final decision on whether the software is ready to ship belongs to the company.

Term and termination

The agreement ends on written notice from either party at a moment when no job is open. The fee for open jobs stays held until those jobs are finished.

What BountyShift is

BountyShift is a marketplace for software testing work. Companies send their new builds here to be tested, and the work is done entirely remotely — from home, on your own computer or phone. There are five kinds of job: website, mobile app, desktop software, embedded device and game testing. Every job's fee is known before you take it and is fixed; it does not change with how many faults you find, and a job where you find nothing is still paid. Payments run weekly, and no commission is taken from testers.
